For all the focus on what AI removes, the clearest signal in the data is where it is adding work. Three clusters stand out.
Build and deploy
The most in demand roles build and deploy AI systems: AI engineers, machine learning engineers and forward deployed engineers who embed models inside customer operations.
Infrastructure
The physical backbone is hiring too. More than 600,000 new AI enabled data centre jobs are being created, spanning construction, electrical and cooling specialists, network engineers and round the clock operations technicians.
Oversight
Adoption inside companies is driving demand for AI product managers, evaluation specialists and governance staff. Gartner reports one in two HR leaders have deployed generative AI in their function, each deployment needing someone to run it.
